We guarantee that our plants arrive alive, healthy and true to variety. If our included detailed planting and initial care instructions are followed closely and a plant still fails during the first two months, we will replace it (if available), give credit toward another plant, or give a refund of the plant price. We are unable to guarantee our plants during any winter or adverse weather, or those that are transplanted into straight bagged potting soil (various amendments included in many mixes are too hot for young ownroot roses), as well as customer neglect or the extreme alternate of too much "care".
If things look amiss during the first two months, please contact us with complete details on how the plant was treated from the time it was delivered to you. A digital photo has helped us diagnose culture problems (e.g. poor drainage) and in extreme cases we may ask that the plant be returned for further study.
We are not responsible for damage, loss or stolen merchandise in transit, but we do all we can to assure your plants arrive in good condition. In fact, these days Tracy's wrapping gets almost as many rave reviews as his plants! You can really tell these are his babies. If damage does occur during shipping you must save all box and packaging material and contact the shipper immediately. We will assist in filing claims with the shipping company, if necessary.
Rose mosaic and apple mosaic viruses are a concern for us and we stand behind the plants that we grow and sell. We are constantly monitoring for signs of rose viruses which includes having any material we suspect tested at the state lab. Our stock plants that have tested of virus have been replaced with virus-free stock when available. A handful of hard to find varieties are not available anywhere virus-free, but we still find them worthy garden contributors and they are demanded by our customers for the same reason. Despite the word "virus", RMV does not spread from one garden rose to another (unless you're grafting them together). If RMV is a concern to you please inquire where our stock plant material has come from originally.
Sudden Oak Death gave all nurseries on the West Coast a miserable 2004 season. Fortunately the US Department of Agriculture formalized procedures, our nursery stock was tested and we've been operating normally ever since. We have never carried Rosa gymnocarpa (the only rose specimen at the time, growing wild under a canopy of other recognized SOD host plants hundreds of miles from us, which tested positive for phytopthera ramoram). Ongoing: All of our stock Rugosa plants and any Meidiland series roses are tested annually and inspected monthly to be verified as p. ramoram-free before we are allowed to ship those varieties. Our state and local officials have been wonderful to work with. We are in full compliance with local, state and federal regulations: California Department of Food and Agriculture/Sudden Oak Death Survey.
